« Thread started on: Aug 17th, 2006, 06:41am »

First of all, I am really shocked. On an interview, one of the people working on the new Spyro game, it said they were re-booting the series! HOW DARE THEY? How dare they just chuck the storyline of more than ten games out of the window to start afresh with this new one? Sorry UV, but a 'New Beginning' is the last thing the series needs. What was wrong with the original storyline? Oh, I forgot. UV messed it up by flinging it around loads of developers and the only recent Spyro game I have enjoyed is, oddly enough, Shadow Legacy. WHY? BUT, but I've heard the gameplay is well done. Still makes me mad they've basically killed the series. Maybe I could find a way to fit the story of ANB in with the original storyline... but only if ANB turns out to be a good game. The genre change doesn't bother me really. I like fighting games, and Spyro would make for a good fighting game character as well as a platforming game one.

*I put exactly the same rant on my site. ^-^' But still, HOW DARE THEY!

I heard. I don't personally think it's too bad. I'm hoping it come, so I'll be addicted to something new.
(KH2, FFX, and AH'sT are the only games that got addictive)

Storyline changes for most games, so this isn't to new to me. I don't care really. I just want to play the game!
^^

((Note: I don't support, nor against VU))

Well, considering that simple platforming games are passe, they probably felt that they needed to "update" Spyro.

Updating spyro is ok like making him move forward but they've gone back to the START and they're trying to erase the original spyro! they're making a prequel that shouldn't be there!

I'm not at all upset about the new game. In fact I've been waiting for something like this for quite some time now. I've always had my own thoughts and ideas for Spyro's beginning but... I dunno. I guess it's just nice to let someone else do the thinking.

call it a "Freash start" instead if you like. I think they needed to go in a new direction after ETD. AHT wasn't as warmly recieved as they would have liked...

Its not going to be a bad game, on the contrary i think it looks brilliant! But its just not spyroish, if you catch my drift.

Have they actually said they're completely revamping the story, or just expanding on it? If it's the latter it may not be too bad, I mean the original trilogy were great fun but the story was rather simple come to think of it. There is probably a lot of room for VU to add ideas, and still not contradict the original.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Yes, but I thought this game was being made by a different company. I didn't think VU were writing/programming/whatever, just distributing.

But I'm quite stupid when it comes to how this sort of thing works, so if anyone could actually explain what seems to be going on that'd be nice.

Its just like they dont think the original 3 are good enough and they have to make the spyros completely their own. and you say the stories in the original 3 weren't that great but just look at what they've given us so far! If this is their usual spyro work then i am not going to be impressed. They've never hit the nail on the head so again i say, i wouldn't hold my breath.
