« Thread started on: May 30th, 2005, 9:48pm »

Since this is a ranting board, rant I shall!

The following things make me just MAD during MSN and AIM chats:

  • People who expect me to reply at a lightning-fast speed to whatever they have to say.
I like taking my time instead of typing really really fast!
  • Emoticon abuse.
It drives me up the wall to suddenly be flooded with ten crying emoticons when your boyfriend leaves you.
  • Typing lightning fast without taking the time to actually think what you're saying.
"Okay." "Um." "Hello" "ure a jerk 4 not liking halo". Me no likies.
  • Begging for me to do stuff.
I will NOT fave a picture on DA unless I like it. And I will NOT search for some random object on Google because you command me to. I am not your lapdog! Asking me to write stuff will make me instantly click the block button, especially if it's something I do not approve of. SOMEONE HAD THE GALL TO ASK ME TO WRITE A STORY ABOUT A RED SUE! ARGH!
  • Asking me why I like certain stuff.
I like N. Gin, Gnasty Gnorc, and Moneybags because it's my choice to do so. Cussing them out will not make me change my mind. In fact, I will keep them closer with the knowledge that people hate them.
  • Bashing stuff I like
If I hear one more "Gamecube sucks! Buy an X-Box!" or "You should be playing shooters and focus your life on stuff that isn't kiddie!", I am going to snap.
  • Asking me why I hate certain stuff.
I do not like A Hero's Tail. Deal. With. It. Telling me that I'm a mean doody head will make me hate it more with the burning knowledge that a good part of the fanbase is immature.
  • Starting a flame war.
Going "Who's your favorite? Shadow or Sonic?" and then going "NO! SHADOW BETTER YOU FREAK!" will make me mad. Really mad.
  • MSN's crying emoticon.
    I just hate it.
  • Spamming me. Nuff said.
  • Playing cop-a-feel on the Internet.
Quit asking about my breasts and leave me alone! I am not going to play Internetsex just because you're saying dirty stuff. I do not tolerate perverts at all unless I instigate it and it's good clean fun. *sends gearbox straight to hell*

Yeah. Messaging. A blessing and a curse at the same time. My MSN Messager won't download because of Internet Explorer 6 setup being a total bee-atch. -_-

I personally have only one: chat speak. I just can't stand it... I dunno why. Since my first day on the internet, I've capitalized every single sentance and written out every single word, even if it'd be more convenient to write the shorter abbreviation. I never touch an "lol" or anything... They just... scare me.

Sad that that Censored didn't take you or me seriously, TP. If I could, I'd conk him over the head right now.

I have to agree with a lot of the topics written allready. I myself am not that fast, and I did meet an old friend of mine a few months ago, who kept complaining about it. I've never really used MSN since...

I use chat to be able to think about answers. There is less need to directly respond, like normal conversations do and I, for one, like to make use of that

As for chat speak, I don't mind it myself, except for the fact that I rarely understand what someone wants to say. I don't use it myself, usually just rather-well written sentences...

I hate it when too many people have convosations with me at once... it makes it very difficult to keep up with everyone - I hope I don't sound spiteful saying that.

As TTE said - I HATE internet speak also, it is immature and lazy...'Hi, how r u?', I understand with text messaging though, because each message would be limited to a number of characters... on on the internet, it's laziness - I'd write full words (even though my capitalisation and punctuation is bad)

TTE found the one thing that seem to get on th nerves of everybody.
And he is right. "rofl lol that now how u ply" is NOT English! *twitch* We perfectly have the time to write proper sentences! We can even use no contraction if we want (though, good luck).
Of course, my English is anything but perfect, but people can still understand it! >_< Abbreviations are not that bad, as long as you respect grammar and spelling!

Man, I hate when someone bashes a character/thing that didn't deserve it. Like, let's say, Keyra from "Jak and Daxter* I've heard she was always bashed. I don't know why, as I don't have the game. And I will never, ever, visit the "Jak and Daxter" section of Fanfiction.net.
I've read a few MSTs, and the fics were way too scary. O_o

Burn chatspeak. Burn it!

Whenever someone doesn't respond 'immediately' to my post, I always assume, they're either writing a long message, working out what to say (often what I have to do), engaged in conversation with someone else (either on AIM or MSN), who I can't see or are doing something on the Internet. Honestly, why can't other people think on the same wavelengths.

Can I praise you for a moment here?

Because that's what I do too. I don't post stuff up immediately because I'm judging by how well the reaction I'll get by saying certain stuff. Sometimes I have to rewrite my messages just to make sure no feelings are hurt. (Unless I'm joking around. grin)

Maybe it's a blessing that my MSN Messager when kaput. I had two spammers of the Crash Bandicoot fan variety that would always ask me questions like "Who is better, Tropy or Gin?" and spell funky stuff like "i goat 2 o." It bugged the hell out of me.

And blocking them would probably get me flames in my e-mails, so I would endure it or pretend that I wasn't there. ^^;

Holy dude, I do the same thing. I'm always worried that I'll hurt someone's feelings or misspell something wrong...and I hate it when people think you're not joking around. But as long as I'm with people I know, I know I can say almost anything and not get my feelings hurt...cheesy

I've actually had to disable nudges and winks on the new MSN solely because someone kept using them when I wouldn't reply. They seem to think I read at lightening speed, so when this person sent a joke I read it and then repeated it to my parents as one does with good jokes so understandably that would take some time. I'm then replying with a joke I recently heard, and because I'm not writing a novel a minute I'm flodded with TEN WINKS! Ten of the darn things.

Ooh, or when people only reply with one word, or go on about much funnier/clever/interesting another contact is. Or my most hated thing:

Me: How are you?
Them: I'm depressed and upset.
Me: Why?
Them: Don't worry/Nevermind.

DON'T BRING IT UP THEN! Grah! I've actually stopped caring, if I'm not to worry I won't, simple. =D

I hate when I'm on MSN and get invited to a huge conversation someone makes, then hearing the annoying "DO-DO-DO DO DODODO ODoDOodODODO" noise constantly from their spamming.

I don't have an Instant Messenger, but it does get annoying when people on the internet use chatspeak. But most of the time it's just funny and I laugh at it. grin

Trust me, it's easier just to have email and forget about all those IM things. tongue

There are two things I hate: Chat speak and perverts.

I cannot even READ half the stuff in chat speak I see, and I've had to copy and past some posts into Word and run it through spell check just to read it.

I hate it when people are all "will you be my girlfriend?" to complete strangers on the net. Even worse when they ask for...things...i've seen this on kid's sites. *coughNEOPETScough* (which is why I never go there anymore...)

What I hate, is people bombarding you with IMs when you get online. People on DA beg me to watch them, just because they left me 20 comments. I take it as a compliment, I'm not gonna leave you as many comments just because you did, because I just don't have that much time on my hands. And I hate slow file transfers. And that Roadrunner ad as well. ^^ I love having cable internet.
