xx Spyro: A Hero's Tale Scores 6.5 in GI
« Thread started on: Oct 16th, 2004, 5:44pm »

"I know many of you have faced a tough decision recently. Standing in your local video game retailer, you didn;t know which game to reserve on November 9...Spyro: A Hero's Tale or Halo 2. Having played Spyro, which is essentially the video game equivalent of sleeping with your eyes open, I can safely say that Halo 2 is the way to go.

Eurocom did create a decent game. The controls are okay, the worlds (lacking in detail) are colorful and sharp, and most of the minigames are pretty cool. It's just a slow play. The action never really hits a fevered pitche, there is nothing difficult about it, and the quest is about as exciting as static on a TV. It's a better attempt then Enter the Dragonfly was, but still a long ways from the glorious PS trilogy"
-GameInformer Issue 139

Wow, those guys are hard to please. Twinsanity got a 6, Spyro: AHT got a 6.5, and even Paper Mario 2 got a 6!

Your thoughts?

Well I guess its natural for them to pick Halo2. I mean, my friend says that people just get Xbox just to play that one game!

I don't know. People have there different interests...I knew AH'sT would beat Crash! w00t! ^_^

People have different tastes and different feelings. Some of the game doesn't suit their tastes. For example, i like to play tycoon games but many people out there may have different thoughts

Yes, but doesn't it strike you as just a bit weird that Crash Twinsanity, Spyro, AND Mario got 6's?

Hmm...its the Platformer 6!!

Some people don't really like platformers, but I'll play them over Halo2 anyday...that and maybe 6 is like a lucky number. XD For all I've heard, Spyro strucked gold.

I don't think that Crash should have gotten less than Spyro. Everybody says that Twinsanity is one of the best games ever made!

But then again, Pong was called the best game ever made during its time and age.

Still, they made a lot of insults to the Twinsanity game, even dubbing it painful to play.

Painful? Is Cortex gonna jump out of the TV and stab me to death?

Spyro doesn't deserve that sort of review, not after ETD. You'd think they'd give him a little credit...

Well, in holland I read a review in the OPM2 about Twinsanity, and it wasn't to possitive either. I believe they gave it between a 5 or 6 or something. They hadn't reviewed AHT yet, but they seemed a bit more possitive about it. I'm going to have to wait until I get back home before I can find out though.

Well, OPM last month gave Spyro AHT an 8. Quite possitive compared to most reviews.
pro's being the almost perfect dutch language (right?... I'm still suffering from a trauma from having heard them) and easy but fun.
Con: some of the minigames were too hard. (they mostly talked about sgt. Byrd being hard, with the timelimit and stuf. (Though I personally thought Blink was harder.))

I dunno what people really see in Halo. Sure it IS quite good, but some guys go on about it's originality - AHEM! Killing ALIENS?? What's original about THAT??

I reckon they must just like the whole commando-guys-meet-space-monsters thing. Oh well...
