xx Script For My Own Spyro Game...
« Thread started on: Nov 26th, 2005, 3:15pm »

Here are clips from the script of my Spyro game, I hope you enjoy them:

(Spyro is walking up, after the battle against final villain is won, Bentley speaking to yeti cubs)

“And then I raised the club above my head, paid my discernment much attention, and brought down by weapon with much oblige squared on its ugly little glabella.”
“Hey, Bent.”
“Ahh, my dear reptilian acquaintance, I’ve wanted to share a word or two.”
“Really, okay…what?”
“I was considering many things last night Spyro, after realizing the success of our defeat and the ruptures it will prevent. It got me thinking in a most stylistic fashion, in a way I’ve never thought before.”
“Okay…so?”
“I realized how much I’ve done and it made me want to share it with the world! It has been quite an honorable and humbling experience Spyro. I’ve learned a large quantity of things; in fact these exhilarating adventures have led me to reassess my entire philosophy on life.”
“How’s that, Bentley?”
“To be frank, I’ve come to realize that there must be some higher purpose to our existence than simply living to pound, squash and exterminate enemies.”
“Really?”
“Certainly, if you reflect on the western existential philosophers, then perhaps to wield a club is as justifiable as any other pursuit. But if you take a more Darwinian outlook on life, specifically that we should venture to develop the species for sake of future generational survival, then, that undoubtedly rises to question such an egocentric quest as club usage there are certainly many views on whether it is legitimate or not. It is all in how you look at it, is the glass half full or half empty?”
“Uhh…and your point”
“FLAMING NARCISSCA’S BUTT IS JUST AS FUN AS SMASHING IT!”
“You know, you could have just said that in the first place instead of giving me a headache!”

(Laughter and Ha-Has)

(After a battle, Bentley speaks first)

“What a despicable, malevolent, dimwitted mammothrept!”
“Yeah, enough to make anyone gag.”
“Gag is not the right word my little undereducated dragon, nor is ralf, barf, vomit or puke. The correct terminology in today’s disappointingly undignified world is “Regurgitate”, remember that and one day you will be as good as logophile and as devoted philonoist as me and can savor the tasty joy that I find in being useful for etymological and linguistic information. I do not blame you one bit however for being so dullard, I realize a true and acceptable education is nearly impossible to come by in our modern world, and therefore you haven’t had the opportunity to get the paramount learning experience I have. Without school, one cannot read and if one cannot read one cannot learn. It is so depressing it makes this tough, big brute want to break down and sob!”
“So why not open your own school?”
“Superlative plan Spyro, maybe you aren’t so brainless after all, I will open my own school and will make it at no cost whatsoever to the young of all species found here. What a genius idea!”

(Mumbles)

“Oh great, I had hard enough time understanding him, now they’ll ALL talk like that, what have I done?”

(In epilogue it shows Bentley’s school and how hard the stuff he teaches is)

Wow. Long time no post, SpyroCreator. It's just weird that you posted the final cutscene. You spoilt the surprise, awww! XD

Uh, nice stuff. Bentley is, in my opinion and dare I say it, in-character. (ie. I don't understand a word. XD)

It's interesting. I have to agree with Dark Faun and NTT that Bently is in character again. The humor within it is somewhat as well. funny how I do understand quite a bit of it...

One thing though, perhaps you should leave out the (laughter and HA-Has)... I'm unsure as to the overall stance towards it, but I think the players will know when they should laugh. I cannot really think of it as anything other but annoying...

Jeez, if only VU would write like that - then the games may well be half-decent.

But... I'm none to hopeful.

Yup, gotta agree with those before me - Bentley is now actually IN CHARACTER. Congrats... writing that must have taken hours o anguish with a hefty thesaruses in hand!

The cries of misplaced hopes and dreams
Condense upon the glass.
As photons fly and children cry
For what they know has passed.
Farewell my confidant of the days
Of Holi that have been!
With heavy heart, I do depart,
And leave you now to dream

Venom - no, I have big word books such as "Weird and Wonderful Words", those are overflowing with the biggest of words, but it did take some time and I did need to know what I was doing as well as what to look for, I couldn't slap down big words, they had to make sense as well.

Charles - I mean Spyro and Bentley laugh, not like I'm trying to get gamer's to laugh. That means Spyro and Bentyley are laughing.

I have another funny Bentley scene, I should dig it up if you all would care to see it?

In that case I doubt I could concider it an annoyance. From the manner on which it had been written I sort of imnterprettted it like one of those audience laughs in commedies and such...

I think I would be interested in some more scenes, if you're willing to share that is.

Bentley talked fine in "Year Of The Dragon", and that was by VU.

Actually, it wasn't. VU was created, as stated in this article in December of 2000, while Spyro: Year of the Dragon was completed long before and released on October 23, 2000 (if you put the game disc into your computer's CD-ROM drive, it'll tell you that the last save date of the files, as well as the date they were placed on-disc, is somwhere in the summer of 2000, long before VU was finalized).

TTE has already pointed out that it was Universall interactive, NOT Vivendi Universal Games, who published Spyro 3. However, regardless of publisher, Insomniac Games developed Spyro 3, and so the game would have been exactly the same whoever was publishing.

And, once again, for the dummies...
The term "VU" is often used on this foum to refer collectively to all the on-Insomniac developers, not the publisher itself. This 'rule' holds true for 80-90% of the instances of "VU" on this board.
